Thank you for sharing, keep going!

There is an overabundance of evidence of God working in and through our Free Methodist churches in Canada… which is why it is difficult for me to give you the news that I will no longer be the one to broadcast it on our FMCIC website.

I have been honoured to both hear and relay your stories on here. But because of how God is working in my life, involving growing ministry opportunities in our church and community, I’ve had to make the tough decision to step away from this role at this time.

To those I have had the privilege to interview, can I confess something to you? There’s been a moment in my conversations with each of you that has stirred me deeply and brought tears to my eyes because I have heard you speak passionately of the joy you get from serving God in his church.

I loved it when Greg Elford got excited all over again about the Street Hope mission he’s been involved with for over nine years (shouldn’t he be tired of it by now?) and when International Child Care Ministry’s Director Paula Moriarity spoke passionately about her trip to Haiti and her joy in connecting partners (it’s not just a job to her). Glenn Boyde, of Mewassin FMC, showed us how to embrace tent-making in the community and was amazed at how God has prospered him in that role. Ann Puddicombe, via the Community Kitchen at Dryden FMC, used what was previously a need in her life to minister to others. Mike Gibney in Belhaven was thrilled to have an inconspicuous church building and saw it as an opportunity to show off God’s strength.

I have felt ill-equipped to articulate to a greater audience the impact of these and the other God-honouring stories. It has been my joy to try.

I strongly believe in the article I wrote: 4 Reasons to Share Our Stories. I would encourage you to continue share with each other and by any means. As you move out into the world, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, with the uniqueness of your God-given gifts, and the distinctiveness of your church, tell God’s story through your actions and we’ll all benefit because of it.

I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. (Philemon 1:6 NIV)
