Church Board Training

This workshop covers what it means to be a Governance Board with The Free Methodist Church in Canada.

Handling Church Funds

This workshop looks at everything from collecting, recording, depositing and managing Church Funds along with how to complete remittances and other  FMCIC financial forms.

Financial Fitness | Connecting Faith + Finances

Did you know that you could be debt free, and still be financially unfit?

There is no question we live in a consumer culture where overwhelming debt is the accepted norm.  The bondage of living under debt creates a stress that can threaten even the best of marriages and families.  But you can have no debt and still be financially ‘unfit’. Being financially unfit can be just as stressful as being in debt and can also prevent you from faithfully stewarding all that God has given you.

In the free live seminar we cover the basic financial methods and biblical principles needed to become financially fit and connect your faith with your finances.

Whole-Life Generosity | All of life. All we have. All we are.

Generosity is not just about giving a portion of your time, talents and treasures.  It is an orientation how we do life together.  It is about who we are – and more importantly who God is.

This workshop can be used with leaders, retreats or the entire church.  We will look at the whole-life generosity cycle and how it can transform our churches into generous communities.

Love & Money | How to manage money together without killing each other

Becoming one in marriage is hard enough with just learning to live with each other. But when you add money into the equation – it can potentially become explosive.

This seminar will introduce and cover 9 principles to help create a joyful, successful financial future together.

Financial Hope Small Group | Finding Help, Hope and Truth…  together

Connecting faith and finances is probably the most counter-cultural thing to do in today’s consumer culture.  Having the opportunity to discuss the cultural pressures of debt and consumerism while learning biblical principles and practical tools to live within their means, get out of debt, save, determine a healthy lifestyle, set long-term goals and live generously.  By the end of the 5 weeks, participants will create a realistic budget using their own financial data.

There is an online Facilitator Training that will equip and train individuals on facilitating a Financial Hope Small Group.

Asset Mapping | How to help your church discover and act upon the gifts that God has given

Asset Mapping is a one hour to half day guided conversation that can best be described as a way of brainstorming real actions (the things we can do by putting existing assets together in new ways) and empowering people to do what God tells them to do. Through Asset Mapping people learn to:

  1. Recognize and appreciate their own individual gifts, strengths and assets (instead of focusing on needs and deficiencies). How did God make me?
  2. Look for ways to connect their gifts and assets with others in order to meet needs and take action. How does how I am made equip me to fit into God’s mission for this community?
  3. Formulate an action plan by “voting with your feet”. How can I best use how I am made NOW?

Asset mapping can work with big or small groups and can help churches find a way past shrinking budgets and limited resources and volunteers.  It demonstrates that when we work together, stewarding all our gifts, God meets us there. It is a simple, yet profound expression of active stewardship.

Narrative Budget | How to connect the church budget to the church vision and share it in a way that people will actually read and support

This Board/Leader seminar helps churches understand why people give – and just as important – why they don’t.

This new, innovative tool will help show your church how to connect the budget to the church vision and then share it in a way that people will both understand and want to support.  This tool will help your church stay ‘vision driven’ and not become ‘money-driven!’

At the end of the seminar, your Board will understand the importance of telling the story of the church budget, but also how to do it using the provided templates.

Q&A on Digital Giving | How to get start digital giving in the church

Adopting online giving is simply another opportunity to encourage generosity and remove obstacles to people’s giving.  This does not mean you do away with the offering envelops and what is already working.  But if you want to encourage generosity in this next generation, we have to look at how people now do life and handle money.  We must make it easy to give. Make it easy to express gratitude. Make their experience in giving as simple and joyful as possible.

This session is an open conversation that will provide lots of opportunity to answer questions you have about Digital Giving and how to get this started in the church including Launch Tools for you to use at your church.

All giving feels risky. But understanding the world of Digital Giving will help you lessen the risks while maximizing the new tools available to your church.
