This check-in provides an opportunity for all voting members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) to connect with each other and become more familiar with Zoom.

Zoom breakout rooms will be used to create smaller discussion groups where members will be asked the following three questions:

What’s working well in your local church?
What are you learning?
What can we pray about for you?

This information will provide a picture of what is happening nationally and to help us move forward

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.

This summit will be led by Doug and Margie Newton who lead the National Prayer Ministry of the Free Methodist Church USA and have great hearts of prayer and experience in teaching pastoral couples and churches how to pray.

The Newtons will focus on Prayer: The Technology of the Kingdom and What is a Biblical "House of Prayer?"
There will also be an opportunity to pray together in breakout groups.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the summit. Please register here: https://www.fmcic.ca/40-days-of-prayer-summit-registration/

The National Leadership Team and the Board of Administration will provide their reports via Zoom. These reports will include how their three year plans have changed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

All voting members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) are expected to attend this event.

There are items on the General Conference agenda that can be completed by gathering virtually. At the beginning of September, members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) will gather via Zoom for a presentation that introduces the item to be voted on. There will also be an opportunity for discussion prior to the online vote which will take place later in September.

If this works well, we can have voting opportunities and discussion times regularly as a movement, and we wouldn’t have to wait every three years for votes and reports.

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.

At the beginning of October, members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) will gather via Zoom for a presentation that introduces the item to be voted on. There will also be an opportunity for discussion prior to the online vote which will take place later in October.

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.

At the beginning of November, members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) will gather via Zoom for a presentation that introduces the item to be voted on. There will also be an opportunity for discussion prior to the online vote which will take place later in November.

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.

At the beginning of January, members of conference (delegates and ordained ministers) will gather via Zoom for a presentation that introduces the item to be voted on. There will also be an opportunity for discussion prior to the online vote which will take place later in January.

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.

Regional Gatherings will happen either virtually or in person depending on how we decide to gather for General Conference in June 2021.

If General Conference is an in person event, Regional Gatherings will be combined into one virtual national event to connect and prepare for General Conference.

If General Conference is a virtual event, Regional Gatherings will be in person gatherings (12 in total) with NLT and BOA members to connect and prepare for General Conference.

Option A: In Person General Conference

Our first choice, if possible, is to get together face to face, so we are proposing a scaled back version of General Conference.

We are considering different options including having GC at a Christian university or one of our local churches instead of at a hotel. This option would include billeting to help with costs.

We will be setting a go/no-go date (likely the beginning of September 2020) to determine if we will go forward with an in person General Conference. This decision will be based on recommendations from the government and public health, as well as the FMCIC’s financial state at that time

If we do not meet in person then we go with Option B.

Option B: Virtual General Conference

Our second choice is to meet virtually for General Conference. Again, this would be a scaled back version of GC but online. The events and voting leading up to GC will have prepared us to meet, discuss, befriend, pray, and worship virtually.

We recognize that Option B is not ideal and it would be a one time event for General Conference.

All voting members of conference are expected to attend this event.
