Introducing our Social Media Journalist: Alison McKinnon

alison-mckinnonThere are definite challenges in having our Free Methodist Churches spread across Canada – in different stages of growth from full societies to newborn church plants. Part of our communications mandate is to help encourage and strengthen our connections to each other. One of the best ways in which we can strengthen the ties that unite us in our common purpose is by sharing our stories.

Does the name Alison McKinnon mean anything to you? No? Well, that is about to change. I am very happy to introduce and welcome Alison to our team. She is our new part-time Social Media Journalist.

Alison’s responsibilities will involve promoting a stronger sense of connection throughout our movement by gathering your stories and sharing them with the wider Free Methodist body. I hope that these stories will inspire us, challenge us within our own community contexts and build a solid bond between our local congregations nationally.

You can read Alison’s posts on the home page of our website (fmcic.ca). Don’t be surprised if Alison contacts you personally for more details about a local story that will stir others within our movement. I hope you will contact her with your local ministry endeavours.

Alison has a background in retail sales and free-lance journalism. She is an active participant in UnCrowded House, a Free Methodist house church community in Hamilton with her husband and their two daughters. Her husband, Chris Lindsay, grew up in the Sarnia Free Methodist Church and her brother-in-law Darrin Lindsay is a pastor at Kingsview FMC in Toronto.

If you have a story that you would like to share contact Alison McKinnon.
