Position Overview

The Director, Church Health is one of five senior positions which, in addition to the Bishop, make up the National Leadership Team (NLT) for The Free Methodist Church in Canada (FMCIC). This position has primary responsibility for helping congregations to engage in church health practices and processes so as to strengthen congregational health. When a church goes into transition, this person will respond in a timely manner to orient its official board to the transition process and then to ensure that ongoing coaching is provided during the transition process. This person will monitor church health trends in the FMCiC, research best practices in evangelism, discipleship and congregational life and use various media to engage the FMCiC constituency on Church Health topics. As a member of the NLT, the Director, Church Health is active in all strategy development and assists with church-wide programs as required.

Minimum Education and Job Related Experience requirements
As a minimum, the incumbent must: a) possess a Bachelor’s degree in theology, and b) have at least 10+ years of senior leadership experience preferably in the areas of local church leadership. The incumbent must be, or be willing to become, an ordained minister within the FMCiC.

Preferred Education and Job Related Experience achievements
Ideally, the incumbent would have: a) a Master’s degree, with training in theology and in organizational leadership, b) functioned in a senior leadership role in a healthy Free Methodist Church(s) for a minimum of 10 years. The ideal candidate would have significant experience with church health processes (including church turnaround leadership practices) and church transitional support
