Bishop’s Notes – September 8, 2009

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to hear that registrations are coming in well for the fall Ministers Conferences.  This is such an important time for us to be together for fellowship in our networks and, of course, beyond them with others who are participating in the conference.  The NLT and Joanne Bell, as you have read previously, as putting together this year’s event.  We had such a wonderful experience of generosity at General Conference last year, and it is our desire to build on what the Lord did among us in that event.  We are hoping to combine elements of inspiration, instruction, and meaningful interaction.  For one of the sessions, you’ll need to have a copy of your church’s annual budget and so please make a note to bring that with you.  This will not be information that will necessarily be shared with others, but you’ll need it for an exercise in one of the sessions that Joanne is putting together.

I continue to be both inspired by and burdened for our friends in Sri Lanka.  Recently, the humble structure where the church plant in Batticoloa was burned down.  It seems that this is the work of vandals as there have been no acts of violence against the pastor and congregation.  Please pray for Pastor Jeyarajah, who is there for a few more days working with the congregation to encourage them to persevere and helping them to make alternate arrangements for a place to worship.  Please remember these brothers and sisters in your prayers.

A reminder that Barbara Peterson’s ordination is on Sunday at the New Horizons Church in Sarnia.  There are no new announcements this week.  I hope all goes well in your community as students return to school and everyone gets into normal fall routines.

Have a great week serving the Lord Jesus.

Blessings,

Bishop Keith
