Bishop’s Notes – February 2, 2009

Dear Colleagues,

It doesn’t work out for me to be present at many services where missions teams are prayed over prior to going to another part of the world to minister to others in partnership with other Christians in that country. Yet, two weeks in a row now, it has been a blessing to be in services where this has happened.

Last week at Kingsview FMC, where Donna and I attend when we are home, a team leaving for ministry in the Dominican Republic was prayed over at the end of the service. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me.

Yesterday I was invited to be at Peterborough FMC to preach and to share in praying for 2 teams totaling 25 people who are heading out to Mexico City. As you’ll see in the pics in the photo gallery the congregation is hugely supportive and the team is made up of people of all ages – the youngest being six months old.

After the service, Donna and I were pleased to spend some time with Len Bruce (a ministerial candidate who is leading the mission teams) and his wife Denise. They showed us the hockey bags (containing about 1,250 pounds in all) containing things like Spanish Bibles, clothing, personal hygiene articles, toys, shoes, gospel tracts, booklets for children, etc that have been donated. It was a great day at PFMC!

Along the way yesterday we saw some other ministry people (Rev. Mervin Cooke, Rev. Marion Traviss) and I’m sure their friends will be glad to see their pics in the photo gallery this week.

We have several announcements this week. We offer our congratulations to Judy Finley (Smiths Falls), and Dyan Mouland (Moose Jaw) who have been approved as Ministerial Candidates.

Rev. Keitha Slack has been appointed as Lead Pastor at Saskatoon FMC.

Have a great week serving Jesus.

Bishop Keith
