Bishop Notes – June 2, 2008

June 2, 2008

Dear Colleagues,

It’s a real blessing to be at those moments when you see congregations celebrating God’s goodness as people respond to God’s call. Yesterday morning, I was at the Sault Ste Marie, ON church and found it really encouraging to worship in the energy of this congregation. The intergenerational relationships are healthy; the worship was authentic and it was good to get to know Gideon and Liz Downs. Liz is preparing for Commissioned Ministry under Marc McAlister’s mentorship.

A four-hour drive through beautiful northern Ontario got us to Sudbury for Keitha Slack’s ordination in the evening. What a day of celebration! Keitha has grown up in this congregation and you could feel the godly pride and joy, not only of those who are presently part of the congregation, but also of those like Joyce Robb, Pam Cramp and Terry and Cindy Gibson who came back for Keitha’s ordination. Keitha teaches at a Christian School (as well as being a part time pastor at the Valleyview church) and staff and students from the school were present to join in the celebration.

During the very nice reception, it was a pleasure to get acquainted with Jason and Sylvie Tripp. Jason has two more courses to go to complete his M.Div at Tyndale and he and Sylvie are excited about the encouragement that they are getting at Valleyview under Gary Landers’ leadership and about entering ministry in our movement. God is answering prayers to raise up the next generation of leaders.

There are pics from both these visits and from General Conference in the Photo Gallery this week.

Please remember Jody Pfeifer’s Commissioning Service next Sunday in your prayers. There are no announcements to make this week.

Have a great week serving Jesus.
Bishop Keith
